This P1800S was first supplied to Parkway Garages Ltd of Sandbanks Road, Lilliput on the 24th April 1967. We believe it remained in the Hampshire - south coast area until at least the early 1990s, and returned to Dorset at the end of the decade. The Volvo has been in the current (deceased) ownership since 2003. In 2013, it was the subject of a complete restoration carried out by specialists in Poole. Modestly used at local classic events, the Volvo has been cosseted and is a very good example of a now rare and sought-after motor car.

The vendor tells us that there are no known mechanical issues but after a period of storage, it may benefit from a recommissioning service. The panel and paintwork, chassis and underside are all described as first class. The interior is excellent in black leather and instrumentation is thought to be correct.

There are many invoices supplied which show continuous mechanical maintenance of the motor car with numerous parts renewed since the early 1990s. In 2012 front and rear springs were replaced. In 2013 as mentioned previously, the Volvo underwent a mechanical overhaul and complete body restoration with the costs totalling over £30000, a huge amount of work by any standard. All invoices for labour and parts are provided.  In 2017, a new fuel tank, a new radiator and hoses and rebuilt carburettors were fitted. In 2020, general mechanical maintenance was carried out at a cost of over £1000. Separately, the head gaskets, water pump and oil cooler were replaced, a Microsteer EPAS unit was fitted and attention was paid to the steering system in the same year.

The history file contains the aforementioned invoices from 1993, MOT test certificates from 1993, old tax discs, the original service / warranty book, older V5 documents and the V5C registration certificate.

*Addendum 8.10.2024 -
