Production of the Series I lasted for the first two years of Morris’ production of the ‘8’. The small, practical and well-appointed motor car was to become something of a phenomenon, with sales far exceeding its rivals of the time. Power came by the 918cc, four cylinder, side valve UB Series engine, driven through a three speed gearbox boasting synchromesh on the two higher gears. Body options were saloon or tourer, both offering the choice of two or four seats. Alterations to its successor, the Series II, were minimal and mainly cosmetic, including Easiclean wheels and a painted radiator surround with inner vertical slats.
This exceptionally-well restored example is a credit to its previous owner, who undertook a ‘nut and bolt’ restoration purely as a labour of love. Every part of the restoration was carried out by the fastidious Morris enthusiast and took four solid years to complete. The large photographic record of the work must be viewed by potential buyers.
We are informed that DAA 29 has no known faults and is ready to be enjoyed. Your writer can confirm that the motor car is an absolute treasure and certainly an opportunity not to be missed by the pre-war Morris collector.
It is supplied with full weather equipment, including side screens, together with the aforementioned photograph folder, the RF60 registration book, the V5C registration certificate and others.
