The first Lambretta appeared in 1947, manufactured by Innocenti of Milan. They were immediately popular and gave a much needed boost to Italy’s post-war economy. The Model C arrived in 1950 and was in production for two short years; it was the first Lambretta to be exported to the UK and had a 123cc air cooled 4.3hp engine. Unlike its predecessors, the 'A' and 'B', the 'C' had a single tubular frame. Evolving further, the supremely stylish Scooters became synonymous with Mods in 1960s Britain, and retain a nostalgic and loyal following to this day.
A recent full restoration has been carried out on this Model C by its Lambretta enthusiast owner. The restoration included the complete dismantling of the machine and rebuild, with a fully overhauled engine which had been re-bored and fitted with a new piston, bearings and oil seals. The front and rear suspension units are equipped with new springs, bearings and seals. The electrics were renewed with a new ignition system. The Lambretta sits on new tyres with new inner tubes.
An extremely rare machine, this early Lambretta is supplied with its V5C registration certificate and several repair manuals.
