The Motor Sport Road Test no. 3 of April 1947 declared the Sunbeam-Talbot Ten to be “so reasonably silent, so smooth-running, so light to control, and so generally refined in its manner of motoring…” and concluded that it was “… highly commendable small car, providing very refined economy motoring with no mean performance, and presenting a modern, but smartly restrained, exterior to the world at large.” High praise indeed and certainly justified as the little ‘Ten’ was a well-thought out pre-war model by the Rootes Group that had subtly evolved from the 1935 Talbot Ten.

This 1947 Sunbeam-Talbot Ten was supplied new by Cathedral Garage of Bristol, and its first owner was H. C. Bailey, also of Bristol. The motor car remains in very original condition; it’s very nicely appointed interior has recently had the front seats retrimmed, most of the brightwork has been rechromed and at some point in the past, the motor car has been resprayed, but overall the Sunbeam still has an air of genuine originality.

We understand KAE 823 to be reliable and with no known mechanical faults. The 1185cc engine motors along happily with the assistance of a four speed gearbox. Having finally decided to hang up their driving gloves, the Sunbeam's custodian has reluctantly chosen to part ways with the pretty motor car.

The history file includes two factory parts catalogues, a Shell lubrication guide, an original sales brochure, a Sunbeam Talbot Alpine Register factory record certificate, sundry invoices, a VE60 registration book, the V5C registration certificate and the carriage key.
