The Jaguar name evokes both sporting triumphs in post-war racing and rallying circles but is also highly respected in terms of providing high levels of comfort and performance in family/business transport. The XJ series brought levels of ride thought to be commensurate with the best from Rolls Royce and Mercedes and has set a standard which lesser manufacturers now strive to equal.
Indeed, Jaguar enthusiasts often state that the best of the XJ range is the XJ12 HE and this 1985 model is a genuine and honest example with only two previous notable owners and retaining its original specification down to its ‘pepper pot’ alloy road wheels.
The upholstery and interior trims have stood the test of time well and are in excellent order, as is the dashboard, but the headlining does suffer from the usual Jaguar sagging problem. The bodywork appears to be solid but could be cosmetically improved in some places. We understand the mechanics to be in good order; however, the right hand fuel tank has a fault so the motor car at present is used with the left hand tank switched on.
B666 AHM is supplied with its original tool kit, a new fuel tank sender unit and a large history file that contains invoices, MOT test certificates, a workshop manual, the V5 document and the V5C registration certificate.
