Built by Jaguar Cars Ltd., of Swallow Road, Coventry, the substantial four door, five seat Mk V Saloon followed much of the styling of the earlier SS models, with sweeping lines, long bonnet with imposing upright chrome radiator grille and Lucas PF770 headlamps. This was the first Jaguar to have independent front suspension and hydraulic brakes. Launched at the London Motor Show in 1948 alongside the XK120 roadster, it outsold the latter during the initial years. Power came from a 3485cc straight six with overhead valves, driving through a four speed manual gearbox. The pressed steel body was built on a large box sectioned chassis, cross-braced to give taught handling on 16” disc wheels. 90 mph was claimed with a 0-60mph in 20.4 seconds.

MHW 895 is finished in white with contrasting trim. The coachwork is described as generally good/reasonable as befits a motor car which has seen previous service in former times as a wedding car. Indeed the vendor has promised his niece that the car will be available for her wedding on 22nd May so the vendor will crave the indulgence of the new owner to accept that the car will be available on 24th May.

The Jaguar is on its original wheels with radial ply tyres, the engine is said to have been rebuilt in 2014 and rear axle overhauled in 2018.

Offered with the Mk V is a Jaguar Heritage Certificate, the V5C registration certificate, invoices and sundry paperwork.
