1976 Ford Cortina 2000E Saloon

Much beloved by Reps and the outwardly mobile, the Ford Cortina sold strongly from its inception in 1962 until the last one was produced five generations later in 1982. Simple in concept and sturdy in build with reliable power units from 1200cc to 2 litre, not counting the racier versions from Lotus and The Savage. By 1976 The Cortina was twinned with the German Ford Taunus sharing the same floorplan and mechanics.

Of all the Cortinas on offer, the enthusiasts make for the 2000E, not only for its powerful performance but the higher specification in trim and finish too.

This local example is finished in a very attractive Royal Blue with black vinyl roof and has been with the current owner since 2018. The interior trim is in blue velour with blue carpeting and smart wood veneered dash and door cappings. Generally the bodywork is described as very good, with a clean underside.

Mechanically all seems well with smooth gearbox and quiet rear axle. The brakes were overhauled about two years ago and steering is said to be fine for the age of the car.

This attractive Cortina comes with current V5C registration certificate and a small file of invoices etc.
