1971 Fiat 500 Abarth 595 Evocation

Carlo Abarth, former Sporting Director of the  Cistalia Racing Team, founded his specialist performance car company in 1947 but the company folded the following year. In 1949 Armando Scaglianni took over the Cistalia assets including 204 sports cars, from which a series of competition cars were developed under the Squadra Abarth Team, using drivers Tazio Nuvolari and Franco Cortese amongst others. Hence the name Abarth was quickly linked to the world of sporting cars and as the company grew it diversified into producing performance parts for other cars with great success.; even today the Abarth name will appear especially on Fiat models.

This Abarth 595 Evocation was originally imported from Italy by a Fiat specialist in 2015. The current owner, a motor engineer, then purchased the motor car two years later; during both custodianships, the Fiat has undergone a fully professional restoration to an extremely high standard.

We are told that the sporting car has:  wide all steel wheel arches; Monza period mirrors; Abarth front and rear plinths; original Arbarth-style engine hatch mounts modified to aid cooling. For the interior, there are: period front seats on heavy duty mounts; a sports-trimmed rear seat; red carpets with black Arbarth over mats; red harness belts; Abarth engraved steering wheel; a centre consul, and a visible flashing red security LED. Two high backed and winged bucket seats, trimmed in same material and pattern as the rear seat, will be supplied with the vehicle for new owner to fit if they wish.

We understand that the Fiat sits on genuine Abarth Record Monza lowered suspension and is equipped with Camagnola replica alloy wheels fitted with Yokohoma A539 tyres, a front suspension camber kit, a front disc brake conversion and a front steering system conversion to rack and pinion. The area under the front bonnet is immaculate and has a painted and polished fuel tank, a suspension strut brace, a recent new battery (and isolater switch) and a modern wiring loom.

The vendor tells us that the upgraded 650cc engine is mated to 126 synchromesh gearbox, and the Fiat has new and modified driveshaft joints, an uprated camshaft and cam chain, an Abarth alloy rocker cover, an electric Facet fuel pump (the manual fuel pump removed and high capacity breather fitted), an Abarth alloy high capacity baffled sump, a Weber carburettor with a sports intake, a Monza exhaust with wrapped down pipes, electronic ignition and a new breather catch tank and alternator.

The history file includes an MOT test certificate from 2018 and the V5C registration certificate.

The Arbarth Evocation clearly looks and sounds absolutely stunning and draws huge attention everywhere it goes, either driven or parked. A seriously fun car all buttoned up and ready for the summer.
