It is fair to say that the thoroughbred motorcyclists of the fifties and sixties with engine oil running through their veins were probably never going to trade their Triumphs or their Vincents for a Velocette LE. But then the LE was for the everyman, transporting its rider safely and reliably on the roads of post-war Britain; indeed, your writer can remember a vicar and a policeman benefitting from the LE’s reliability and of course the model’s use by around fifty police forces and the nods required from patrolmen to their superiors led to the name ‘Noddy Bike’.

This barn-find Mk III example appears to be complete and is fitted with a full windscreen and a Rickman top box. Two original mirrors are stored inside the tool box. The machine has a tax disc fitted dated 31.5.2008, which was presumably when the LE was last used on the road. A V5C registration certificate is included in the sale of this interesting restoration project.
