Classic car enthusiasts wanting to take the plunge into ownership could hardly do better than this one-owner Wiltshire registered 1968 Triumph Herald 13/60 Saloon.

Showing fewer than 80,000 miles, the Herald is in overall good, sound, condition and even comes with a 1971 AA handbook contained in an envelope addressed to the first and current registered keeper.

The MoT history reveals the motor car has had very little use in recent years and, more importantly, also shows that in all this time there have been no concerns over rust issues. Last year saw the 60th anniversary of the car’s launch, rather overshadowed by celebrations for the Mini’s diamond jubilee, but these later, more powerful 13/60 models with their 1.3 litre engines are widely recognised as the ones to have for everyday driving, for which this car is ideally suited.

Heralds are very simple to work on with their separate chassis and whole front end hinging forward for superb access to the engine and ancillaries. A novice home mechanic wanting to gain knowledge could hardly have a better starting point!

There are some body blemishes and evidence of touching in but a day spent with some quality materials could put a good gloss on the damson paintwork to make this a plum purchase. The interior has held up very well, with excellent woodwork on the dash and only a couple of probably fixable tears in the headlining.

Among a sheaf of documentation including a current V5C certificate, the Herald comes with a BMIHT certificate for its build on June 10, subsequent dispatch on June 13, 1968, to Stanbourne Motors in Bournemouth and showing the motor car retains its original engine and chassis.
