Introduced in 1982 following a lukewarm 924 with VW 2 litre engine, the 944 had a genuine Porsche 2.5 litre four cylinder engine with dual overhead camshafts and counter rotating balance shafts to give greater smoothness and enabling better weight distribution. This greatly aided the phenomenal handling of the 944 and caused die-hard rear engine Porsche fans to re-consider their motoring future.
The S2 appeared in 1989 with a three litre version, which could be had with a turbo, so now one had a Porsche which, even in non turbo form, could offer performance worthy of the name, with much more forgiving road manners.
This non turbo 944S2 has been carefully owned and improved by its current owner, who alas has now acquired a dog and a small flock of sheep for which is much loved Porsche is no longer suitable. Some 3000 miles has been covered in his four year ownership. Just prior to acquisition, the specialist dealer had rebuilt the sills and carried out extensive mechanical work as invoiced and including a new radiator and water pump. Subsequent invoices whilst in his care show restoration to three wings, servicing and belt changes. A new Cobra alarm is fitted.
The vendor describes the Alpine White paintwork to be cosmetically good with some fading. There is a standard tilting sunroof in good working order. The cockpit offers tidy leather upholstery in blue with crack-free plastic fascia with all instruments working. Wheels and tyres are all described as excellent/good.
The car comes with current V5C registration certificate, an old V5 document, the MOT test certificate , a file of history and two sets of keys.
