First appearing in 1954 as the 300SL ‘Gullwing’, the Mercedes-Benz SL series is synonymous with a long line of high quality, grand touring sports cars. Featuring the 3.5 litre V8 engine, the 350SL was introduced by Mercedes in 1972, code named the R107. The brand new SL range had a controversial design way ahead of its time, offering extremely powerful and refined performance.

In the current lady ownership since 1995, we understand that this example has been regularly serviced; however, the dreaded ‘tin worm’ has attacked the undercarriage mainly, we are informed, at the rear end – and this will unfortunately require surgery in order to obtain a new MOT test certificate.

The vendor assures us that mechanically though, the German engineering remains in good order, demonstrated by the fact that the 350SL was used on a daily basis until the last MOT test expired in late July of this year. We understand the hood to be in serviceable condition and the interior to be in good order.

The expansive history file includes numerous MOT test certificates, the handbook, a large quantity of invoices and two V5C registration certificates.

FIB 8633 is realistically priced to allow for repairs to be carried out so that the next custodian can enjoy the ownership of an SL Mercedes.
