Widely considered by many to be a continuation of the ‘B’, the RV8 was a low-production, performance model aimed at the burgeoning modern sports car market of the early to mid-1990s. With just 2000 units produced, and just under 1600 of those exported to Japan, the RV8 was a certainly a luxurious motor car, enhanced with Connolly Leather upholstery and elm veneer woodwork. Mechanically, the model was equipped with 3.8 litre Rover V8 unit and a limited-slip differential, and with a performance of 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds, the MG RV8 is surely a true modern sporting classic.

The BMIHT certificate supplied with this example confirms that the motor car was manufactured at the Cowley factory on the 28th of November 1994, and was exported to Japan. The RV8 was repatriated to Britain on the 25th of July 2005, which is confirmed on the export certificate. It has had just one custodian since returning to the UK, and has been maintained almost at no expense spared. The history file includes a large quantity of specialist maintenance invoices for work carried out, which has included a heating and air conditioning system overhaul, the replacement of the fans and air conditioning condensers, heater fan blower motor repairs, a cooling system overhaul, and the fitting of new: tyres, hood, clutch master cylinder, alternator, ignition switch and steering lock and windscreen surround and glass.  The MG is equipped with a stainless steel exhaust system. The interior is in smart, presentable condition with leather upholstery, and a walnut dashboard and door cappings, but the alloy road wheels may now benefit from some refurbishment.

The history file contains the aforesaid invoices, images, MGCC data, the original handbooks and leather wallet, a parts manual CD, a photocopy parts manual, the Clifford alarm pack and Japanese service records.  A tonneau cover and the original radio are supplied, together with the unused original tool kit. A CD / radio unit with booster system is presently fitted.

This luxurious performance MG sports car is ready to be enjoyed this summer.
