Introduced by the Abingdon Works in 1962, the MGB took over from its fore runner, the MGA, as the entirely new unit construction sports two seater with 95bhp, 3 bearing, 1798cc engine, driving through a four speed gearbox, with optional overdrive. Through the years the car evolved with many detailed changes, including a five bearing engine, but the basic format of an honest sporting conveyance was retained until the arrival of USA Government safety requirements meant drastic changes that not all true MGB worshippers appreciated.

Being a 1970 built motor car, UBO 891J retains much of the original sporting character as intended. The cockpit offers ample room for two with reasonable weather equipment and wind up windows. The addition of the walnut facing to the dashboard is a gratifying upgrade. Performance is enhanced by the optional overdrive, which gives an extra gear between 3 and 4 and past 4, a very useful feature when overtaking and generally getting out of a particularly embarrassing situation. A stainless steel exhaust and alloy road wheels are a nice bonus.

The vendor describes the mechanical condition as all good and the blue paintwork (formerly green), has minor blemishes but is generally presentable. The hood and black vinyl upholstery is described as fair to good and the black carpets as fair. A tonneau cover is included. A compact disc shows details of the underside, which is said to be very good and a sensible modification involves the replacement of the two six volt batteries with a single twelve volt one.

The car is offered with a V5C registration certificate, details of old MOT test history and a few recent invoices.
