Produced from  1976 to 1983 and considered to be worthy of ‘Under the Radar’ status, this little known motorcycle was a bit of an odd man out in Kawasaki’s range at the time. Big twins like this one were giving way to four cylinder offerings. Better known perhaps were the 750cc Triumph Bonneville and the 650cc Yamaha XS650 of that era. Having said that there were still riders who wanted a big twin as the four cylinder bikes were thought too complicated.

The 55hp, 745cc twin had double overhead cams, shim and bucket valve adjustment, a Morse Hy-Vo primary drive chain and 5 forward gears, giving a top speed of a little over the magic ton.

The vendor advises us that the motorcycle was one of two restored by Cornwall Kawasaki specialist, Dougie Kendall, sometime in the late eighties or early nineties. The colour may have been changed to blue at that time. The tank and side panels have blemishes and dings, not surprisingly in a bike that has not been ridden for some 10 years. We are told that the tank does not leak and the side panels are not all original to the machine. There is a spare side panel included. Some light restoration is thought desirable to the mudguards and brightwork.

To improve comfort a King and Queen seat was fitted in black vinyl, which is said to be excellent.

There is a kickstart only and there is a non-original tachometer fitted. We are told that the engine starts and runs and there is a stainless steel exhaust system, with specially fabricated downpipes.

The motorcycle is offered with a current V5C registration certificate and is currently on Sorn. It is exempt from MOT, the last one being in 2008. Some spare parts are also supplied, along with a workshop manual.
