This original right hand drive Series One 4.2 Litre E-Type Roadster with manual transmission was manufactured on the 9th March 1966. It was supplied by the distributor, Henlys Ltd of London, to H.L. Abbott Motors of Leigh-on-Sea, where a Mr A. L. Johnson of Grays, Essex, purchased the sports car. HHJ 384D is the original registration number.

Following a period of long term storage, we understand that the E-Type was purchased in 2007 by an enthusiast who carried out a programme of recommissioning and light restoration. The last custodian purchased the motor car with a view to restore to a good, usable standard, retaining as much originality as possible. Regrettably, the gentleman passed away and his wife engaged the services of the enthusiast (from whom they purchased the car) to complete the restoration and return the Jaguar back to the road, which has indeed been achieved.

The engine and gearbox have been thoroughly inspected and refilled with fresh oils. The braking system has been upgraded, the steering refurbished and the rear axle removed, overhauled and refitted. The tyres are recent replacements and the E-Type is now equipped with a stainless steel exhaust system. We are informed that the boot and lower quarter panels have been replaced and the underside cleaned and repainted. The bodywork has been professionally resprayed in the original colour of Carmen Red and the original upholstery and hood have been retained and complimented with new carpets. The instrumentation was checked and replaced as required. The restoration and repairs are recorded in photographs and on disc, both of which are included with the Jaguar’s history.

The large file also contains a Jaguar/Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, the VE60 registration book, the V5C registration certificate, a vast quantity of invoices and MOT test certificates.

An excellent opportunity for an E-Type enthusiast.
