The Daimler Sovereign was in production from 1966 until 1983 under the manufacture of Jaguar Cars. The first Sovereign in production was the 2 ½ litre V8 engine designed by Edward Turner.  By 1966, the Sovereign’s Jaguar engine had superseded the Turner designed V8. Based on the 1966 Jaguar 420, the Daimler Sovereign is also commonly known as the ‘Sovereign 420’ by enthusiasts.

Honestly described by the vendor as a running restoration, this quality motor car has great potential.  The bodywork, which apparently was resprayed in 2010, appears to be very sound and the mechanics are described as good in virtually all departments, including the all-important power steering. The interior has a new but sagging headlining which requires re-gluing, and we understand that the dark blue upholstery is reasonable, apart from the driver’s seat which is split.

The history file includes sundry invoices, some MOT test certificates, the original handbook and a dealer list.
