In production for an astonishing 42 years between 1948 and 1990, the Citroen 2CV was originally conceived as an economy car to wean French farmers away from their horses and carts. Its revolutionary design incorporated a small 9hp air-cooled flat twin engine, front wheel drive, four speed transmission, soft long travel independent suspension, bolt on detachable front and rear wings, flap-up windows, and full length canvas roof (which conveniently enabled oversized loads to be carried). Various minor updates were introduced over the years, but the essential character of the car remained true to its original concept. In all nearly 3.9 million 2CVs were produced.

This 1985 example has benefitted at some time in the past with a professional replacement galvanised chassis, and some repairs to the floor panels. The vendor describes the bodywork as being in good to very good condition. The original interior is in respectable condition for its age, and the soft top is described as very good. Mechanically, this motor car is understood to be in good condition, and it enjoys the benefit of a 123 ignition system. The king pins and bushes, handbrake pads and headlights have all been replaced recently.

This vehicle comes with a V5C registration certificate. The accompanying history file includes the original 1985 bill of sale, the original owner’s manual, most MOT test certificates from 1988 to date, a Haynes workshop manual, and numerous invoices for maintenance work performed.
