This modern classic BMW has come onto the market only because of the vendor’s business commitments and lack of spare time to devote to the motor car. We are informed that the bodywork is good, having been resprayed in 2001. The windscreen has a small stone chip, but the leather interior and carpets are presentable and the BBS alloy split-rim road wheels are in very good order. The engine and associated mechanics are described as being excellent and the motor car drives as one would expect. We understand that the computer read-out shows that there are no codes in the electrical and mechanical system requiring attention, but a transmission fault warning cannot be cleared even by BMW, despite there being no issue (this has been checked by BMW, who have informed the owner that the computer is faulty).

N726 NNW was sold in 2001 as a Category D insurance loss (the vehicle was damaged but repairable). The insurer decided not to repair and the seller, Cleave Motor Salvage, advertised the BMW as a part exchange which was ready to drive away with no damage. Since this period, the 840 has clearly been well-looked after and is a reasonably priced entry into the Nineties era of powerful sports car motoring.

A large history accompanies the BMW, which includes a V5 document, the V5C registration certificate, numerous MOT test certificates, invoices, the aforesaid Cleave Motor Salvage advertisement, service history, handbooks and HPI reports, dated January 1999 and June 2001.
