For high quality touring with minimum fuss, BMW have a great reputation which has survived competition from Japan and boasts a particularly strong Owner’s Club for support and social activities.

Perhaps not amongst the more ‘hairy’ mounts like the 900s and 1000s of the period, the midweight R60/7  can hold its own and has endearing touring qualities for those seeking less drama, preferring  overall smoothness and economy, whilst maintaining BMW dependability.

This garage find, very original and untouched R60/7, with twin shock absorbers and alloy spoked wheel rims, is an ideal platform for a cafe racer, to restore or recommission and use as is. The vendor, who purchased the machine from its previous custodian of thirty four years, considers it to be complete, apart from missing side covers. The most recent tax disc supplied with the BMW expired in 1995 so it is presumed that the motorcycle has been stored in the back of a garage for around twenty eight years. We understand that the engine turns freely when put into gear and turns via the back wheel, we are told with good compression, although no attempt has been made to start the engine.

The R60/7 is supplied with genuine panniers (although one is cracked), together with the original handbooks, a Haynes manual and the V5C registration certificate.
