Every so often a motor car comes along which simply takes your breath away. Here we have one of the loveliest Austin Sevens imaginable and no amount of praise could ever be adequate.

The story of the iconic Austin Seven is regularly detailed in auction catalogues, from its inception early in the 1920s to the final model in 1938. We have rambled on about how it can take four people and luggage with its little 747cc side valve engine driving, in this case, through a three speed gearbox, and we have told how the supremely popular model sounded the death knell for the Cyclecars of the time.

All this clearly applies to PJ 5487, but what beggars belief is the extent to which this car has been restored, from ground up, with photographs and invoices in support. Diligence has been employed on a complete interior re-trim, a re-paint and general cosmetic attention; mechanically, the Austin has been overhauled and thoroughly checked, with a rebuilt radiator, a re-wired electrical system and new tyres fitted. The underside is just as good and the sunshine roof works effortlessly; the only non-standard addition is the flashing indicators, which have been wisely added for safety. Clearly much time, effort and money has been lavished on this petit motor car, which is after all a humble Austin Seven.

PJ 5487 is offered with V5C registration certificate, the RF60 registration book, interesting data, a workshop manual and the aforementioned photographs and invoices for work carried out. The original jack, wheelbrace and hand tyre pump are also supplied. The road tax classification for this motor car is 'historic'. Enthusiasts of the Seven are urged to view this pretty example, as opportunities seldom come twice……
