The original Stevens family set their sights on producing high quality, well-engineered motorcycles and looked for success in competition at The Isle of Man TT races. When the Firm was closed in 1931 the name AJS could still be found with Matchless and Norton under the parent company AMC. Through the 1950s and 60s, British bikes were well regarded and still have a great following in the classic motorcycle world. Japanese imports were to change the world of motorcycling and whilst many of these are deemed collectable, the old names are still cherished.

Here we see the famous AJS name re-emerging as a retro Café Racer, which can be ridden by 17 year olds and by those of senior years whom never got around to gaining a full motorcycle licence. The single cylinder, air cooled engine is of just 125cc and drives through a five speed gearbox and chain. Electric start is provided although a kickstart is available for the traditionalist. Disc brakes are fitted, as is a stainless steel exhaust system. Cast aside the walking frame, there is fun still to be had!!

This very smart machine has covered just 338 miles since new. It comes to DVCA from Surrey and from a very busy enthusiast who lacks time for his AJS, hence its arrival here in Dorset. We are told that mechanically, it is as new. The paint and brightwork is also as new, apart from some slight pitting to the chrome headlamp.

As it’s such a young bike, history is minimal, but included in the sale is the original manual and warranty pamphlet in the proper wallet, the bill of sale from the current ownership, and the V5C registration certificate.
