The early sixties was remembered by some for the frightening Cuban Missile Crisis, but there were those so smitten by the all new E-Type Jaguar which appeared in 1961 that it may have taken their minds off the potential unfolding horror. Certainly that memorable first look at the new svelte shape, from what was always a popular manufacturer of sporting machinery, was burned into young minds for many years to come.

We offer here the chance to acquire one of these fabulous machines, albeit at a later stage of development, still to die for, and a glorious V12 engine of some five litres attached to an automatic gearbox. A genuine Grand Tourer capable of covering great distances in sublime comfort. Finished in refreshed powder blue paintwork with excellent chrome fittings and trimmed in navy blue leather with a delicious display of instruments and switches, over which a magnificent long louvred bonnet disappears invitingly into the foreground, urging you to make use of the right hand pedal accordingly. A true Siren inviting a motoring experience not often offered elsewhere in this superb condition.

We understand that a photographed restoration was carried out in 1989, and then a full body restoration in 2010 when the vendor’s late husband purchased the motor car. At that time, it also had a major brake overhaul (all new brake discs, callipers, pads and hoses). A new cylinder head gasket set has been fitted, plus a Kevlar hose kit. All the belts have been renewed and the carburettors overhauled.  The exhaust system was new and stainless steel, and the Jaguar sits on new chrome wire wheels with chrome correct knock-on wheel nuts.

The E-Type has clearly been cherished and the beautiful sports car comes with the V5C registration certificate and its replacement showing but two previous owners, together with a repair manual, service handbook, invoices and parts list, plus the Jaguar Heritage Certificate and correspondence. MOTs in the file date back to 1985 and the mileage that year was 8667. It currently stands at 12669 miles.

Opportunity we are told, seldom strikes twice.
