2003 Triumph Thunderbird

To some Britishness is still important. So if you are looking for something to take to the Biker’s Café or on a Rideout, you will have dismissed the American Harley and the Honda Goldwing. Thankfully Triumph Motorcycles produced the Thunderbird, the unmatched triple cylinder 885cc engine, shoehorned crossways in the substantial chassis, with three forward thrusting exhaust pipes in true heavyweight style looks positively macho. Yet coupled with this is the comfortable low seat height giving a relaxed cruising position, which with a gentle twist of the throttle, can produce all the drama and excitement one might want. Disc brakes all around will stop you quickly and the light, responsive steering makes progress at any speed a great pleasure. Small wonder this three cylinder retro has such a strong following.

This very smart and low mileage machine has been well cared for during the current ownership. In 2022, an annual service was carried out (oil and filter change, pivot points and moving parts lubricated, plus safety checks), the spark plugs were changed, the calipers rebuilt, new brake pads fitted, the brakes bled, and the water temperature sensor was replaced. It has been carefully maintained, always garaged and never used in the rain, a pristine example and ready for the road this autumn. From the MOT test certificates included in the file, the current mileage of 28873 is presumed to be correct.

The aforementioned history file contains the original owner’s handbook and service CD and handbook, Triumph Rider’s Association information, invoices from current and previous ownership, a maintenance check sheet from 2022, a 2008 Honda Motorcycles Autocheck Report, eleven MOT test certificates dating back to 2007, and the V5C registration certificate.
