Like many motorcycle companies, Raleigh began by making bicycles during the early part of the 20th century. During the 1920s, the Nottinghamshire based factory were providing entries for the long distance trials, thereby proving their reliability and greatly assisting sales. This attractive little side valve single cylinder engined example had the Raleigh inspired twin petrol tank, unique to this year’s model.

From 1941, RR 9585 has resided in Nottinghamshire, Norfolk and Derbyshire. The current custodian, a collector of historic vehicles, has owned the Raleigh since approximately 2011. A necessary thinning of his collection has forced the sale of the rare machine and so from Nottingham to Dorset it has travelled. The motorcycle appears to be in good order but will require recommissioning after a period of storage. Internally, the petrol tank will need cleaning and sadly one of the petrol caps is missing, taken by a tea leaf whilst on display at a show!

The history file contains an original instruction book for the 14 and 15, correspondence, copies of the Club newsletter, a parts list, the RF60 continuation book for 41 - 78, and the V5 registration document.
