The SLK Series may well be a dark horse waiting to burst on to the modern classic scene. The retro lines and neat but capacious and comfortable cabin, and the effortless performance and handling need to be experienced to be believed. A top speed close to the Jaguar E type and 0-60 mph in under six seconds or thereabouts is apparently available. It’s a fun but practical sporting car.

With a full service and MOT history to corroborate its 80000 mileage, this smart 1997 SLK230 Kompressor Convertible with few owners is described as being good throughout. It has been in the current lady custodianship for eighteen years, during which time the Mercedes has been very well maintained. There are no known faults with the mechanical aspect of the motor car, it drives and performs as one would expect, and cosmetically the SLK has tidy paintwork, although there is some evidence of rust to both front wing panels. The factory fitted alloy road wheels are tidy. The interior, with black leather, has survived well and all instrumentation is in working order. We understand that there is an intermittent fault with the roof function, but it has worked while residing with us here at DVCA.

An extensive history is supplied with the Mercedes, unusually for a car of this era, and this includes handbooks and a stamped service record book in the original wallet, together with a clear HPI check (carried out in 2004), correspondence, many invoices from the previous and current ownerships, a full set of MOT test certificates from 2001, all servicing invoices from the current ownership, an old V5C and the current V5C registration certificate.  Also included in the sale is a waterproof cover specially designed for the SLK, the original first aid kit and warning triangle.
