Produced from 1961 until 1973, the 1800 series was intended to corner the sports car market, integrating Volvo’s superior build quality with a stylish body design and high performance.  Initially assembled by Jensen in West Bromwich, production moved to Sweden in 1964, hence the ‘S’ designation.  The ES was to be the final model in the series, a coupe station wagon which retained its predecessor’s power.

This P1800S appears to have spent most of its life in the Nottingham area. A full restoration was carried out in the late 1990s, and again in the early 2000s, the Volvo was rebuilt (with a bare metal respray) as a fast road and rally car with a tuned and modified engine. In 2008, it was purchased by its current custodian for £13995 from Sherwood Restorations Ltd. A full ownership history from new is included in the file, as well as details of modifications and upgrades. These include a stainless steel sports exhaust system, Minilite alloy road wheels with new tyres, a poly-bushed suspension, uprated road springs, stainless steel brake hoses and many others. The vendor describes the Volvo as good in most departments. The interior is in nice order, but the body is showing some areas of corrosion which will need to be addressed by the new custodian.

The vast history file, which we recommend potential buyers to inspect, includes the V5C registration certificates, the RF60 registration book (confirming the Nottingham registration), invoices, a quantity of MOT test certificates, the September 2011 edition of ‘Classic Monthly’ in which ONN 2F is featured, a copy instruction book and parts book, performance information, technical data, Volvo O.C details, correspondence, and Volvo road tests from Brooklands Books and the Motor Trader. A very comprehensive package for a very desirable motor car.
