The Mini, manufactured by BMC from 1959 until 2000, is synonymous with the 1960s. Manufactured at Longbridge and Cowley, and designed by Sir Alec Issigonis, this small economic motorcar has appealed to all manner of motorists and their enthusiasm lives on some 55 years later. You are sure to find a local Mini Owners Club not far from your home.
This 1996 Mayfair is a rolling restoration project and has been in storage since 2012. The vendor tells us that while the panels are straight and the underside and floor are believed to be good, there are some areas of rust, the boot floor will require work and the Mini would benefit from attention to the paintwork. The beige cloth interior and black carpets are original and appear to be in serviceable condition, although the driver’s seat has sunk a little; the fuel and temperature gauges require replacement. Mechanically, the Mini has a current MOT test certificate up until June next year, but we are informed that the engine requires tuning and the electrical aspect of the motor car will need inspection.
The project Mayfair is supplied with all MOT test certificates up until 2012, together with service history to the same year and the V5C registration certificate.
