2007 Mercedes-Benz SLK280 Convertible

A bit of a mystery surrounds the SLK Coupe. Although not perhaps as iconic as some of its contemporaries, it may well be a dark horse waiting to burst on to the modern classic scene. The retro lines and neat but spacious cabin with the electronic folding hardtop are appealing in their own right and the effortless performance and handling need to be experienced to be believed. Your writer acquired an earlier version from DVCA in 2015 and was totally mesmerised by the car, its comfort, handling and Mercedes quality. A top speed close to the Jaguar E type and 0-60 mph in under six seconds or thereabouts is apparently available. This is actually a difficult car to follow, certainly within the estimated price as suggested and could well be classed as an investment. Meanwhile use it and enjoy sublime cruising with the top on or off.

This fine example has been in the current female ownership for five years. The vendor modestly describes the SLK as ‘good’ in all departments but we would suggest that it is in immaculate condition throughout, apart from one small finger nail sized dent. It has been serviced promptly by a Mercedes-Benz specialist and has benefitted from regular applications of Waxoyl to the underside, most recently in April of this year, when a service, an engine flush and an oil filter change were also carried out. In early January, the motor car was recalled to Mercedes of Salisbury for a ‘visual health check’ and a driver’s airbag replacement. In 2019, a new battery was fitted, together with new brake discs and pads. All invoices have been retained from the current ownership and the SLK has been treated to a no-expense spared programme of maintenance.

The history file contains the V5C registration certificate, the aforementioned invoices, MOT test certificates, the owner’s manual and the service book.
