The MG Midget was introduced in 1961 to follow the very popular Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite as a small two seat sport car. Mechanically it was identical with initially the 948cc A Series engine. A 1275cc unit followed, slightly detuned from the Cooper S specification as the motor car was likely to have been faster than its bigger sibling the MGB. US safety additions were added for the 1968 year model to include a padded fascia, with smaller gauges, collapsible steering column and anti-burst door catches. Better fuel economy was produced by increasing the final drive ratio to 3.90:1.

This particular little Midget joined its present owner in 1989. He describes it as in fair condition for its age in most respects with a repaint noted in the 1980s. The upholstery is probably original and in need of some refurbishment. The black pvc hood may also be original and is still serviceable. Wire wheels are fitted, the tyres of which may need replacing.

Most of the mechanical parts are said to be OK. The 1275cc engine has had a replacement block, which has yet to be reported to Swansea (the V5C has been completed accordingly). The original block will be included in the sale.

Sensibly reserved in view of the above mentioned issues, this sports has been enjoyed for the last 32 years and clearly it will benefit from a new home, the owner having told us that he has too many cars!

A current V5C registration certificate accompanies the Midget with a file of service records and invoices.
