Introduced by the Abingdon Works in 1962, the MG B took over from its fore runner, the MGA, as the entirely new unit construction sports two seater with 95bhp, 3 bearing, 1798cc engine, driving through a four speed gearbox, eventually with optional overdrive. Through the years the car evolved with many detailed changes, including a five bearing engine, but the basic format of an honest sporting conveyance was always retained.

The current custodian purchased this 1972 B GT almost two years ago from the previous owner of twenty years.

Since 2016, it has undergone a complete respray and the vendor tells us that the motor car is in generally good condition, with a good panel fit and solid structure. The interior is apparently fitted with new carpets but the original black upholstery is a little worn, as one would expect, although the headlining is good. Two new tyres have recently been fitted and we are informed that there are a couple of switches missing from the set of instrumentation. Mechanically, the ‘B’ is described as being in good or fair order; overall, it seems to be a good basis for a fine sports car with much of the hard work done and the benefit of a roof for all-season classic motoring.

The large history file includes the V5C registration certificate, invoices and others.
