Inspired by the American Willys Jeep, the Rover Company introduced the Land Rover Series 1 80 inch in 1948. It was adaptable, durable and soon became a popular utility vehicle both in the UK and overseas. These models have now become a cult classic – sought after by enthusiasts who find the vehicles equally suited to everyday use as they are to special occasions and historic rallies.

Having been the subject of a refurbishment and refit in 2015, we are assured that this ex. Military 109” Land Rover is in very good and reliable condition. Work two years ago included a braking system overhaul (with new brake pipes and shoes), the fitting of a new head gasket and exhaust system, and a thorough inspection and overhaul of the steering. The underside was also cleaned and undersealed. A service has recently been carried out and the Landy is equipped with two new Avon tyres. The MOT test certificate was renewed in August and there were no advisories. We cannot be certain that the odometer reading of some 38000 miles is correct, by the vendor believes that it may indeed be accurate, given the condition of the vehicle.

Interestingly, the original Military number plates, 45 ER 18, are supplied, together with the V5C registration certificate. Equipment includes two full length bench seats, the original radio units on the front wing panels, four aerials, and a gun rack behind the front seats.
