Arriving in 1971, the Series 3 was to be the final incarnation of the iconic E-Type. Standard power steering, an uprated braking system and a pulse-racing 5.3 litre, twelve cylinder V12 engine all made for a magnificent machine. Offered only as the 2 + 2 coupe or convertible, the Series 3 had the lowest production run of all three series, with 15200 models made. By the time production ceased in 1974, Jaguar had sold over seventy thousand E-Types, with one in every three exported to the USA.

Purchased from the vendor’s son ten years ago JMY 696K we understand has been well maintained.  In 2015 a respray has been carried out and in recent months the interior has undergone refurbishment with a new headlining, carpets, door cards and the dark blue leather front seats re-trimmed to match the occasional original rear seat, which remains in good condition.

The sunroof is in good working order, however the tailgate requires some adjustment.

In July 2014 Sigma Engineering of Gillingham, Dorset undertook setting the engine up which consisted of: overhauling the carburettors and fitting a new stainless steel exhaust system including new front pipes.  In addition the motor car was set-up on the rolling road.  A recent service has been carried out.

Most departments are described as good.  The history file includes the V5C Registration Certificate, the handbook together with a large quantity of invoices and MOT Test Certificates. A great value V12 and sensibly priced .
